Dr. Darien Sutton is a medical correspondent for ABC News and a
board-certified emergency medicine physician.

While still a resident, Dr. Sutton interned at ABC News and was
welcomed back as a contributor during the height of the pandemic.
Since then, he has covered a wide range of medical stories for ABC
News, including a medication used in weight loss drugs that may help
heart failure, the FDA approving the first-ever postpartum drug, and a
shot recommended by the CDC to help mitigate the risk of RSV in
infants.

Dr. Sutton started his clinical career as a resident at Bellevue
Hospital in New York, where he developed his passion for addressing
the systemic inequities of the American healthcare system, especially
as they pertain to race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and
socioeconomic status. During his bus rides to the hospital, he posted
on social media about the health issues he cared about, amassing a
dedicated following.

Aside from his medical accomplishments, Dr. Sutton is the proud son of
a lifelong ICU nurse and mental health advocate Sheila Sutton and
criminal defense attorney Harold Ramsey, to whom he dedicated his
white coat at his medical school graduation. He is a dual graduate of
New York University, where he completed his MD at the school of
medicine, and the Stern School of Business, where he completed his
Master of Business Administration. He lives between New York City and
Los Angeles with his partner, Phillip Picardi, and two cats, Freddy
and Juniper.
